Threats In The Cloud
Bio: Jacob Lake is a DevOps/DevSecOps engineer with a passion for technology. He is currently employed at Trend Micro and was previously employed at IBM. Using his knowledge in DevOps, and with the help of Trend Micro, he was able to learn and integrate security into his DevOps knowledge. Jacob love’s automating everything, building containerized applications, and architecting CI/CD pipelines. His career started in technology at the age of 19 where he was working as tech support for an internet company, since then he has worked multiple roles in IT until he landed his job at IBM as an application developer. After working in the role for about 6 months he found his passion in DevOps. During his employment at IBM he was a college student and obtained a degree in Computer Information Systems. Jacob is also a certified Solutions Architect in AWS, and currently working towards his DevOps professional certificate from AWS. In his free time, he enjoys studying ancient mythology, hunting, fishing, reading, playing with his dog, and video games.
Abstract: See an actual demonstration of an exploit running live within a cloud environment; one a serverless application and another running within a docker container. We will also discuss the presence of threats in the cloud and the importance of cloud security. Threats can affect services within the cloud including Containers, Serverless Applications, S3 buckets, in addition to possible misconfigurations. Learn what security features and functionality you need to secure your cloud environment. We want you to understand how attackers can exploit and leverage the cloud and help identify any security gaps you may have in your environment.
